Green City Race
Earth Day® Vancouver 2012

Celebrate Earth Day® with Evergreen BC and discover the greener side of Vancouver in our inaugural Green City Race.
Find a teammate (or two!) and race against the clock as you and your team use public transit and your own two feet to make your way around the city. Your physical, mental and environmental savvy will be put to the test as you:
- Work together to decipher clues leading you to Vancouver's hottest green destinations
- Complete physical and mental challenges such as removing invasive plants as quickly as possible
- Scour the city for green scavenger items
- Capture ridiculous moments and green “sightings” on camera for bonus points

How long is the race?
Teams will have approximately 3 hours to complete the race, followed by an awards ceremony and after-party.
What do I need to bring?
Each team will need maps of the city (including a transit map), a digital camera or camera phone, and snack and water. Use of the Internet is encouraged, so we strongly recommend having at least one person on your team with a smartphone and/or someone you can call to help you during the race.
Can I register by myself?
No, everyone must be in teams of two (minimum) or three (maximum). If you can't find anyone to register with, let us know and we will try to set you up with another single. Should you have a group of four or more who want to work together, teams can join forces. Each team will still need to complete all of the challenges to finish the race.
How do you determine the winner?
Winners will be determined based on the number of points each team acquires during the race. There will points awarded for speed, creativity, and the completion of bonus challenges. Bonus points will be awarded to the teams who are able to fundraise more than $150 for Evergreen collectively.
There will be awards given out in a number of categories, so there is more than one way to win!
How do we fundraise and where will the money go?
If you and your team would like to fundraise for bonus points, contact Danielle Rana at drana@evergreen.ca, and she’ll set you up. The money from registration goes directly back into the event, including t-shirts for all participants and other supplies. Any extra funds raised go to our community programs.
Can I get a refund if I can't make it?
Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds. However, race tickets are transferrable. If you need to transfer your ticket to someone else, simply email us with the new registration info so there are no problems at check-in.
